MX Team Dance  *(E)

The MX Team Dance is a stylish medium/up-tempo dance which uses a universal style that encompasses a creative mixture of street funk movements blended with jazzy technical movements, leaps, kicks, and turns. This dance is used as each nominated-athlete’s All-Star Tryout dance, and is also used as the performance routine for the first team evaluation. The MX Team Dance offers no variations; all dancers (regardless of style/expertise) must be able to execute the routine exactly as taught. It’s a curriculum element designed to showcase performance versatility.

MX Dance Movement Technique Class  *(E)

The Cheer, Dance, and Step Divisions of MVMINT Xperience are all connected by one standard class of basic motions and positions. Several motions, lunges, and hand placements are universal for all three divisions, which allows the general MX Movement Technique Class to be virtually shared online for campers to learn throughout their pre-camp experience. The MX Dance Movement Technique Class is a review of the body positions specific to dance.

MX Classical 101  *(E)

The notion that ballet is only for one particular type of dancer is such an outdated myth! The dance industry has evolved in such a way that even the commercial dancers who perform behind some of the most beloved entertainers are classically trained. MX Classical 101 is split into two (2) groups: Beginner and Intermediate-Advanced. Both levels introduce balletic exercises and vocabulary at center without a barre warmup. Teams are not required to undergo a staff evaluation for skill level. Teams are also not required to send all participants to the same level. Performance surfaces vary at each camp; thus, campers are allowed to take class in footwear of choice.

MX Dance Improvisation Session  *(A, E)

The freedom of expression within improvisational dance is perhaps one of the greatest liberties to be honed as an artist. Campers are first given fundamentals of individual and contact improv. Abstract concepts and hypotheticals are then shared to emotionally embrace via discussion. The MX Dance Improvisation Session then creates space for each dancer to explore a full range of free-spirited movement followed by a group discussion of their art.

MX Dance Progressions Workshop  *(A, V, E)

The MX Curriculum provides personalized instruction and progressive drills to build technique for beginner, intermediate, and advanced dancers. No more basic and boring progressions of struts, turns, kicks, and leaps! The curriculum uses free-spirited dancing combos to strengthen technique. The MX Dance Progressions Workshop utilizes three distinct genres to test each dancer’s technical ability: West African, Horton (Modern), and Street Jazz. The MX Staff creates highly intentional sequences often featured in collegiate and professional auditions.

MX Lifts N Dance Tricks Lab *(A, V, E,)

As the dance world becomes more inventive, and the young artists become more athletically talented, the industry expands to be more inclusive of acrobatic skills, tricks and lifts! The MX Lifts N Dance Tricks Lab investigates the basic fundamentals of lifting by allowing dancers to first discover and share their personal truths/fears regarding lifts and dance tricks. Campers are assisted through partnering exercises, small group maneuvers, and full team lifts and tosses. The MX Lifts N Dance Tricks Lab also introduces competitive solo dance tricks and acrobatic skills for teams to incorporate in their game day performances and/or competition routines.

MX Body Awareness & Injury Prevention Session *(A)

The performance industry is constantly demanding new extremes on the dancer’s body; however, no one seems to be taking a serious interest in properly educating young dancers on how to preserve their facilities. This session is designed to dispel industry myths regarding practice habits and performance behaviors that alter the longevity of dancers. The MX Body Awareness & Injury Prevention Session includes impactful insight regarding topics such as: pain versus injury, outdated conditioning, disciplinary culture, performance surfaces, and effective practice structure. MX Dance is committed to helping each dancer know how to properly take care of his/her instrument.

MX Kick N Lines Workshop *(A, V, E)

MX still believes in clean lines and clarity for high kicks! MX Game Day Dance Class: Fight Song & Band Chant *(V, E)

The historic traditions of school fight songs and band chants remain staple performance elements within the spirited environment of cheerleading and dance. The MX Game Day Dance Class is designed to prepare teams for their game day and competition performances by offering routine sequences with multiple performance options and game day incorporations. Campers begin by learning basic fundamentals of a seated/standing spirit experience. Fight song routines include two components: MX Required Choreography (motions and spirit drills), and Team Custom Choreography (motions, catch-on dance steps, mini dance routines, and/or props). Band Chants include five (5) different single eight-count catch-on dances repeated in sequence of three. There’s no spirited environment quite like MX Game Day!

There’s no sensation quite like the magic that happens on the field when the band drops the beat! No matter what style of dance a team prefers, the memories created on the field are second to none. The MX Field Routine is a high-energy visual dance loaded with creative transitions, ripples, levels, and eye-catching choreography. The routine incorporates field-entrance variations as well as an open section for teams to incorporate their own choreography!
